Fourth of July Cupcakes

The 4th of July is finally almost here and I cannot wait for the long weekend.  I am particularly excited for the holiday this weekend as I am heading up to Cape Cod with a group of friends Thursday after work, which means I have a full four-day vacation.  I am so looking forward to a care-free beach weekend of getting some much needed sun, playing games and I am sure there will be some boozin’ in there :)

I had the urge to bake over the weekend, so when I was at Trader Joe’s on Sunday I picked up some cake mix and decided to make some festive cupcakes for everyone to enjoy!

Also, I couldn’t wait to try out the new Nikon 3100 my parents got me for my birthday!  Can you tell the difference in the pics?  Well, I still need to learn how to use a lot of the functions, but I am excited to learn.

All my love from LaLaLand :)

Decadent Birthday Desserts

My birthday was at the beginning of the month, but I have yet to post about the multiple celebrations.  Yes, multiple.  I was a bit of a birthday diva this year, despite the fact that my birthday falls somewhere in the middle of around six of my best friend’s birthdays.

It started with the most delicious meal at Beauty & Essex.  Birthdays are really all about the desserts (especially when it comes to me), so I will get right to it.  At Beauty & Essex we tried two desserts: Devil’s food-cake and Black Bottomed Butterscotch Pot De Creme.  Both were out of this world delicious!  Then on my actual birthday my wonderful roommate brought some delicious cupcakes from Amy’s Bread and one of my best friend’s Lauren brought an assortment of Baked by Melissa’s ity-bitty cupcakes (which brings together two of my favorite things cupcakes and all-things mini).

And I just had to add some photos of the beautiful flowers Andrea got me!  Nothing makes a birthday girl smile like decadent desserts and and gorgeous flowers!  Happy birthday to all of my May birthday girls!

All my love from LaLaLand :)

The wall hook says “Big Dreams Start Small” - my parents gave this to me when I moved away to college and it has been in every room I have lived in since.
