Governor’s Ball - Music Festival Anyone?

I would like to start this by saying I am so not a musical festival goer.  I actually left the first one I ever went to - Music Midtown in Atl - early because I was freaking out about all of the smoking and drinking, so I called my Dad and told him I didn’t feel well and he picked me up early.  To be fair, I was only like 14, but I realize that’s still pretty weak.

That being said after going to Governor’s Ball a couple of weeks ago I might just have to take it up as a hobby.  One of my best friend’s was in town from Denver and wanted to go to the concert festival for her birthday.  I will reluctantly admit that I agonized over what to wear, since having seen pictures from other such events the fashion can be a little eclectic.  Mostly it just looked like neon threw up on the crowd of 20 something year olds.  But by the end of the night I was all about the Neon body paint.

You will also notice the balloon art, which I was particularly obsessed with throughout the day/night, especially when they attached lights to them at night.  The headliners were Girl Talk and Pretty Lights, which were both awesome.  So…music festival anyone?

The crowd view when I stand on my tip-toes and the view when standing normal - only kidding, but I am really short!

We were ALL about the glow-in-the-dark paint

Zarkana

Last night I went to the wonderful new Cirque Du Soleil show Zarkana at Radio City Music Hall with one of my best friends.  This was the second Cirque show I have seen and I absolutely love the modern circus feel.  I turn into a total kid and am in awe of everyone’s incredible talents.  My favorite act was definitely the trapeze.  It was amazing to see the performers fly through the air like it was nothing.  Overall it was a fantastic spectacle.

Nothing like a journey for pizza

After a long eight days, all I could think about all Tuesday was how I would break passover and finally indulge in the delicious carbs that I love.  I had been craving pizza and nothing is better than Artichoke Pizza in NYC.  Their signature dish is basically artichoke dip on pizza - that description doesn’t do it justice, but just know it’s ridiculously delicious!

In order to earn my pizza and enjoy one of the best spring days we have had in New York, I decided to walk the 32 blocks there and 32 blocks back.  And the pizza was totally worth the journey.

Mad hats on 5th Avenue

I was so happy to have my mom in town this past weekend.  Though the weather was dreary all pretty much all of Saturday, Sunday we finally got some sunshine.

As us Jewish gals walked to our Kosher for Passover lunch, we stopped to check out some of the post-Easter Sunday parade festivities.  Fifth Avenue was closed off and families were flooding the street in their Sunday best.  I never knew that there was a creative hat theme on Easter, but apparently there is in New York.  We saw some fabulous hats that I just had to share!

If you didn’t recognize it the one above on the left is the house from the movie UP - I was obsessed (secret fact I am obsessed with all things mini and this fits into that category!)

The Art of the Met

Ever since I can remember I have loved art.  In high school my art classes were what got me through the long days (I laugh at the thought of high school days being long now).  Unfortunately, through college and the past few years I have been creating art less and less.  So I was thrilled to go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art this weekend with my parents friends who were in town.  (Also, it was a chance for me to use the membership my parents got for me as a present!)

The amazing thing about the Met is that I am almost as in awe of the actual museum as I am the art within it.  That being said, here is a look at some of my favorite pictures of all the beautiful art at the Met.  Hopefully this trip will inspire me to get started on yet another one of my New Year’s resolutions - to start painting and drawing again.

View walking into the Met

I love this view of the courtyard!  I think it seems so romantic, and I love how you can see the old and new buildings come together.

A Little bit o luck…

A couple of my co-workers have the same birthday.  Last year we had drinks after work and then went to karaoke, which remains one of my favorite/most memorable nights in New York.  This year we were determined to top that night.  Our solutions…Lucky Chengs.  Yep, that’s right a drag show.  I was in from the beginning although a bit apprehensive.  I am always up to try something new, but this definitely took me out of my comfort zone.

Overall the show was hilarious!  We all had a great time and I think we can officially say we topped last year’s shenanigans.

Oui Oui - A French Day in NYC

As I have previously mentioned I love to travel and I love other cultures.  One of my New Year’s resolutions was to learn French, so when I saw a 3 hour French language course and wine tasting on LivingSocial I was thrilled!  Me and three friends had the best time learning some French basics this past sunday.  The company was called Act French and you can find more information here: http://actfrench.weebly.com/.

To top off our French day we went for an early dinner at Tartine, an adorable French restaurant in West Village.  I hope you enjoy some of the pictures of us enjoying the delicious food!

My First EVER Broadway Musical Review - The Book of Mormon

One of the best parts about living in NYC is that at any moment your day can become 100X more exciting than you expected.  Case and point, yesterday I thought I was going to spend my evening going to yoga and then watching TV, but then my friend Haley scored some tickets to The Book of Mormon, a brand new musical from the creators of South Park.  Now, I am no NYTimes Broadway critic, but I have seen my fair share of Broadway musicals and I would like to think I am a pretty good judge.  As you can probably imagine it was HILARIOUS!  At one point I was crying I was laughing so hard, and at another point I think I may have been disturbing the rest of the audience with my cackling.

Overall, this was quite possibly the funniest show I have ever seen.  The acting and choreography was impeccable and the humor (although completely offensive at times) is smart and too funny to not laugh at.  I highly recommend for anyone in NYC or planning to visit!

Fire Island - Freshman Year Meets Sleep-Away Camp

I find that when I get back from a vacation it just increases my desire for a getaway from the city.  So when I got back from Denver a few weeks ago I was not only itching for another trip, but more importantly itching for some sunshine on the beach!

The Hamptons is known as the summer location for the who’s who of of New York, and the entire U.S. for that matter, but for the young 20 somethings looking to have a ridiculously awesome beach weekend I would say Fire Island is the place to be.  I satisfied my craving for the beach by booking a house for a weekend in July for me and 13 of my friends.  Granted I have to wait a few months, so to get a quick fix I decided to look back at the pictures and reminisce about last year’s adventures.  Enjoy!

A Few Hours In Eataly…

I am a huge lover of traveling and it’s been over two years since I have traveled outside the country.  I thought the perfect fix for 2011 would be an Italian getaway.  Unfortunately, with limited time off that probably won’t work, so instead I jetted all the way to 23rd and 5th avenue to Mario Batali’s Eataly.

I hope you enjoy the photos capturing the delicious scenery!
